Spotlight on ‘Bishopsgate People’

We are thrilled to launch Bishopsgate People, a new video conversation series introducing you to some of the key figures shaping our community. From business leaders to cultural advocates, these interviews offer insights into their contributions and aspirations for the area. This month, we feature:

Francesca Canty, CEO of Bishopsgate Institute – discussing the charity’s role in the community.

Father Chris Vipers, Priest at St Mary Moorfields – on the church’s significance as a place of sanctuary.

Charles Begley, CEO of City Property Association – on attracting new investment to the Square Mile.

Sarwar Khan, Head of Government Relations at Salesforce – on the company’s commitment to local engagement.

We want to hear from you! If there’s someone you’d like us to feature, or if you’d like to participate, reach out to us. View the videos here.

Addressing Public Realm Issues

We’ve been working closely with TfL to ensure that the long-standing issue of unsightly blue plastic street furniture along Bishopsgate is finally resolved. Plans are now in place to replace these temporary structures with improved, semi-permanent materials—enhancing the look and usability of our streets.

Tackling Dockless E-Bike Clutter

With e-bike usage soaring by 85% in the last year, the challenge of cluttered pavements has grown. Our engagement with Lime’s leadership team has led to a £20 million action plan aimed at better bike distribution, improved parking solutions, and the introduction of AI monitoring to reduce obstructions.

Fraud Prevention – A National Priority

Fraud is a growing challenge, costing billions and affecting countless businesses and individuals. The City of London Police, as the national lead force on fraud, is at the forefront of tackling this issue. With new investments in advanced policing technologies and industry collaboration, the City is strengthening its defences against financial crime.

Major Investment in the City

The Square Mile continues to attract significant investment, with 2 Finsbury Avenue breaking records as Europe’s largest office deal in the past year. With 750,000 sqft of prime office space, a winter garden, and public community areas, this development is a testament to Bishopsgate’s position as a global business hub. It’s also designed with sustainability at its core, operating entirely on renewable electricity.

Celebrating Sports, Culture, and Community

London Careers Festival – Connecting young people with career opportunities in the City.

Sports and Wellbeing – From the Golden Lane Health and Fitness Centre refurbishment to open-air sports spaces in Hampstead Heath, Queen’s Park, Epping Forest, and West Ham Park, we’re promoting healthier lifestyles for residents and workers alike.

Holocaust Memorial Day – We joined survivors and dignitaries at Guildhall and Liverpool Street Station’s Kindertransport Memorial, reflecting on the importance of remembrance and tolerance in today’s world.
