Tom Sleigh

Councillor, lead on Culture and Financial Services

Tom works in the Ward, and lives very close by on Brick Lane, so spends most of his days in the local area.  He has been a local councillor since 2013.

He is Director of Corporate Affairs for The Bank of London - a new UK headquartered clearing bank.

At The City, Tom has been Chair of the Barbican Arts Centre, the largest performing arts centre in Europe, where he streamlined board governance, and drove an overhaul of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion policies for the Centre, in addition to securing funding from The City to renew the Barbican's buildings.

He has previously Chaired the City's Investment Committee, a £6 Billion fund, and its Property Investment Board, freeholder for a quarter of the Square Mile.

In February 2023, Tom was part of a delegation from the City of London and The London Chamber of Commerce to Ukraine, one year into the full-scale Russian invasion. There, Tom met with senior political and cultural figures, including the Governor of Lyviv region and the Deputy Mayor of Kyiv - the result of that trip was to lobby the UK Governement and insurance companies to improve the insurance of goods and services from the UK to Ukraine, to increase the mutual flow of business and help support the Ukrainian economy.

Tom is Chair of Council of Goldsmiths University, one of the UK's preeminent Arts and Humanities universities. He is also Chair of Trustees of Norwich Theatre, and of the Southbank Employers' Group.
