Shravan Joshi

Councillor, lead on SME and Growth

Shravan’s background is in the upstream energy sector, working in trade finance and business development to deploy technology and engineering solutions worldwide. He has moved across to an Advisory and Non-Exec role with a portfolio of companies spanning financial services, tech and energy.

Shravan has also worked on various educational charity and community endeavours both in the UK and abroad, with Her Late Majesty honouring him with an MBE for services to Equality and the British Hindu community.

Shravan was elected to the City Corporation in February 2018 and served as Deputy Chair of the Property Investment Board, Deputy Chair of Licensing and Deputy Chair of Streets & Walkways. He chaired Planning & Transportation from May 2022 to May 2025, overseeing the built environment in the Square Mile and working alongside TfL, the GLA, neighbouring local authorities, and real estate investors and developers from around the world. He now serves as Deputy Chair of Planning & Transportation, alongside his ward focus on small business and growth in Bishopsgate.

The City’s Utility Infrastructure Strategy was his pet project. Adopted unanimously in June 2024, it sets out a 25-year strategy for utilities provision in the City, the first of its kind to set out a predictable way forward for future generations looking to invest, build and base themselves in the Square Mile.
